Yarrow Place - Rape and Sexual Assault Service

Yarrow Place (external site) (external site) is an inclusive service for anyone who has been sexually assaulted and provides a variety of services for people aged 16 and above. These services include:

  • 24 hour crisis response service for recent rape or sexual assault (this can include medical care, forensic medical examinations, counselling and advocacy)
  • follow up medical care
  • ongoing counselling for recent and past assaults
  • support for partners, families and friends
  • Group Work Programs for survivors.

For young people under the age of 16 years who have experienced sexual assault, contact the Child Protection Services of either the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre or Lyell McEwin Hospital.

1800Respect - National Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence Counselling Service

1800Respect (external site) (external site) is a counselling helpline, information and support to anyone whose life has been impacted by sexual assault, domestic or family violence.

The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Legal Services Commission Sexual Violence Legal Service

The Sexual Violence Legal Service provide free and confidential legal advice and support, including social work support and financial counselling, to anyone in South Australia who has experienced sexual violence.

Sexual violence may have happened recently or a long time ago. The service can help you understand your legal options and what to do next. They can also advise you about reporting sexual offending to the police and support you through that process if you choose to do so.

You can contact the service even if you are unsure whether what happened was a crime or if you are unsure about reporting to the police.

The service is available Monday to Friday, from 9.00am to 4.30pm.

Shine SA Sexual Healthline

ShineSA (external site) (external site) is a confidential service where you can talk to someone about your sexual health.

Pregnancy Advisory Centre

The Pregnancy Advisory Centre (external site) (external site) provides women in South Australia with information about pregnancy and a safe abortion service.

Counsellors are trained social workers and abortions are provided by qualified, non-judgmental medical staff.

Counselling and abortion services are free, provided at no cost to clients. Contraception is also provided at minimal cost for women accessing an abortion.

The Centre is open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.

Child Sexual Abuse Counselling Service - Relationships Australia South Australia

This service can be accessed by children, young people and adults who have survived child sexual abuse. The survivor's partner, carers and family members can also access the service.

Priority groups are children, young people and parents-to-be.
