South Australia’s Adult Safeguarding Unit (ASU) responds to reports of abuse of adults living with a disability, as well as elder abuse.
The disability can be intellectual, psychiatric, cognitive, neurological, of an episodic nature, sensory or physical impairment, or a combination.
You can make a report about actual or suspected abuse, or neglect of adults who may be at risk of abuse, as well as seek free confidential confidential advice and support.

National Disability Abuse and Neglect Hotline
The National Disability Abuse and Neglect Hotline is an Australia-wide telephone hotline for reporting abuse and neglect of people with disability. The Hotline works with callers to find appropriate ways of dealing with these reports.
To make a report:
- Call 1800 880 052 and speak with an experienced Hotline staff member
- Callers who are deaf or have a hearing or speech impairment can contact the National Relay Service (NRS) by calling 1800 555 677 then asking for 1800 880 052
- Callers from a non-English speaking background can use the Translating and Intepreting Service (TIS) by calling 13 14 50
